Sunday, August 14, 3:00 – 5:00pm

We are pleased to invite our families to Ready, Set, Go!, a parent workshop on Sunday, Aug. 14, 3-5pm. Our goal is to assist our families with tools for a harmonious transition from summer mode into a school routine. There will be no childcare available so please make arrangements. We encourage current and new parents to attend! Please send us an email if you plan on attending.

Back to School Night @ Classrooms

Back To School Night
Wednesday, August 17, 6:30-8:00pm
All classes will have a Back to School Night on Wednesday, Aug. 17. We require that at least one parent attend your child’s class meeting. This is the night where the teacher will share with you all the important nuggets and systems of the classroom. This is an important night where you will hopefully will get all of your questions answered ahead of the first day of school and pick up classroom handouts including the parent handbook.

*There is no child care for this event, please make arrangements.

Monday, August 22 is the first day of school for all children returning to their same classroom (as last year.)

Wednesday, August 24 , Thursday, August 25 and Friday, August 26 — Staggered start for all children new to their classroom. (Please see recent email for you child’s start date.)

Arrival and Departure Schedule
8:15am-8:30am Arrival for all Students
8:30am — School Begins*
12:30pm-12:45pm Half-Day Primary Departure
2:30pm-2:45pm Full-Day Primary Departure
3:00pm-3:15pm Elementary Departure
2:30pm-5:30pm Primary After School (late fees apply after 5:45pm)
3:00pm-5:30pm Elementary After School (late fees apply after 5:45pm)

*Classes start promptly at 8:30am so please be on time. If you arrive after 8:30, it is school policy to park and come into the office with your child and sign them in. A Parkside staff will escort your child to their classroom. Any children not picked up within the 15-minute grace period at departure will be taken to After School ($20 charge).

Please joins us a Community Picnic to kickoff the 2016-2017 school year! All families are welcome, bring a picnic lunch, come and reconnect, meet some new faces and explore our beautiful campus. We will also have a few tables and parents willing and able to answer questions about all that goes on here at Parkside; specifically our Be Involved Program, Spark (running program), Bike Club, Fund Raising…and more. Hope you will be able to join us!

Pedernales Fall Campout!
Sept. 23-24

Join us for our bi-annual excursion to the great outdoors! We reserve the Youth Campgrounds at Pedernales Falls State Park for our use, so please come out and participate in a way that is manageable for your family. Spend the night, come for the day on Saturday or join us on Saturday evening for our community pot luck and singing around the campfire. You will be so glad you made the effort as soon as you step out of your car – it is an enchanting place!

Directions to the Park from Austin (about 40 miles):

Hwy 290 West to Johnson City, 26.6 miles (past Dripping Springs)
Turn Right on FM 3232 (brown Park sign) go 6.4 miles
Turn Right on CR – 201 (RR 2766 – Pedernales Falls Rd)
Turn Left on Park Road 6026

Stop at Ranger Station to pay entrance fee ($6 for adults and children over 13)
Head to Youth Campgrounds

Overnight Campers Should Bring:

Camping Gear, Warm Sleeping Gear (gets cold sometimes), Drinking Water, Food for Your Family, Fire Wood (illegal to gather), First Aid Kit, Sunscreen & Bug Spray, Flashlights, Swim Gear, Water Shoes, Chairs, Musical Instruments (for our sing a long), and anything else you might want for your daytime fun

Day Campers Should Bring:

Drinking Water, Food for Your Family, First Aid Kit, Sunscreen & Bug Spray, Swim Gear, Water Shoes, Chairs (camping, foldable or lawn), Musical Instruments (for our sing a long), and anything else you might want or need

What to Bring for the Potluck:

Pot Luck Dish to share, Drinking Water, Utensils and Plates for Your Family, Chairs (camping, foldable or lawn), Sunscreen & Bug Spray, Flashlights or Headlamps (gets very dark once sun goes down)

Leave No Trace:

We do a great job of reducing our footprint on the planet while at school and carry our values with us to Pedernales Falls State Park. In general the rule is: You Bring It, You Leave With It. We ask that everyone help us clean up after our potluck and ask all campers (day and overnight) to make a sweep of their camping area ahead of our sing-a-long.
