26 Miles for 26 Charities: 2/17

Parkside Community School - Austin Texas Montessori School

Parkside Community School will be hosting water stop #12 at the Austin Marathon on February 17th.

We were chosen by 26 Miles for 26 Charities – the philanthropy program of the LIVESTRONG® Austin Marathon and Half Marathon® to host a water stop on the marathon course. We ask for your support of ALL the runners by asking you to hand out water and Gatorade and cheer on ALL the marathon runners.  It’s that simple! Watch the Parkside’s 26 Miles for 26 Charities Waterstop Skit.

Not only will you be supporting the runners but also gaining recognition for Parkside within the greater Austin Community (wear your new Parkside t-shirts).  This opportunity is a great extension of our Marathon Kids program and is a wonderful occasion for your whole family to participate in community support.

As a matter of fact, Bryan Wayt, our Marathon Kids coordinator will be running the half marathon and is asking for sponsorships and raising money on behalf of Parkside.  If someone you know is running the full or half marathon, they too can ask for sponsorships in order to fundraise for Parkside.  This link tells how .

Parkside has been assigned waterstop #12 at Camp Mabry – 2200 W. 35th between Mopac and Exposition Blvd from 6:30am – 12:00noon. We need 100 volunteers.  Children are welcome to assist with adult supervision.  Students can obtain community service hours. Ask co-workers, family and friends to join you.

You can earn Parkside volunteer hours for your family by participating at the water stop.  26 for 26 is already in our volunteer system so, it can be chosen as a category to record your hours.

Parkside Community School
“Parkside has a wonderful reputation in the Montessori community of Austin, and thus intrigued us. But what kept us at Parkside is the love and support we feel from the teachers, admin, directors, and community. Our primary teachers were more than just "guides" -- they obviously cared for my children in my absence. And Joe and Claire are the loving shepherds of a small flock of eager sheep.”
